Vitrification is an ultra-rapid freezing method that prevents ice crystals from forming inside the egg. Ice crystals damage cells. Vitrification eliminates that risk, with egg survival rates now above 90% at experienced centres.
Sperm freezing is simpler. A semen sample is collected, processed, and frozen in small portions called straws. Each straw contains enough sperm for one treatment cycle. Frozen sperm can be stored for many years and used for IUI, IVF, or ICSI when needed.
Egg quality and quantity decline with age. A woman is born with all the eggs she will ever have. After 35, that decline accelerates. Egg freezing captures your eggs at their current quality before that happens.

You take hormone injections daily for 10 to 14 days to stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple mature eggs. We monitor your response with regular ultrasound scans and blood tests every few days.
When follicles reach the right size, a trigger injection is given to prepare the eggs for final maturation. Egg retrieval is scheduled 34 to 36 hours later.
Eggs are collected under mild sedation using an ultrasound-guided needle. The procedure takes 20 to 30 minutes. You rest for a couple of hours and go home the same day. Mild bloating or cramping is normal and settles quickly.
Retrieved mature eggs are immediately vitrified by our embryology team and stored in liquid nitrogen at -196 degrees Celsius. At this temperature, biological time essentially stops, and quality is preserved for years.
When you are ready to use your frozen eggs, they are thawed, fertilised through ICSI, and the resulting embryo is transferred into your uterus.

In terms of biological quality, properly frozen eggs and sperm do not deteriorate with time. An egg frozen at 30 will have the same quality when thawed at 38 as it did on the day it was frozen. Time in storage does not reduce your chances of success.
